Barrett Lizza is an artist, designer, fabricator, and community-minded inventor based in Bellingham, Washington. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, his work is deeply shaped by the raw beauty and mystery of the Cascadian landscape. With a passion for giving forgotten objects new life, Barrett builds immersive environments, sculptural pieces, and functional art that spark curiosity and nostalgia.
He’s the founder of BLD, a one-of-a-kind oddity shop and fabrication studio located in the heart of Fairhaven’s Historic District. Inside, you’ll find a world of reimagined antiques, intricate assemblage art, and custom-built pieces that blur the line between past and present. His creations often feature hidden worlds, surreal twists, and layered textures that invite people to slow down and look closer.
Barrett’s experience spans everything from intimate home interiors to major cultural events. His past design/build work includes The Emerald Cup (2018), Travis Scott’s Astroworld Tour, Phish’s Magnaball Festival, Bonnaroo, the 2015 Super Bowl, and installations for artists like Madonna and Beyoncé. Locally, he continues to collaborate with small businesses, restaurants, and homeowners to craft unique environments that tell stories and make people feel something.
Barrett approaches every project with a blend of practicality and imagination—solving problems with his hands, listening closely, and staying true to his belief that art and design should be both meaningful and accessible. He is also one-half of the psych-doom band DUOS, and is actively developing immersive art exhibits and a social app designed to uplift small businesses.
